France-Tunisia: Ayrault receives Jebali in Paris

(ANSAMed) - PARIS, JUNE 28 - French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault today received his Tunisian counterpart, Hamadi Jebali, in Hotel Matignon in Paris. Jebali is the first member of the new Tunisian government to visit France. The meeting, a statement issued by the French government reads, ''was an opportunity to underline the support France is giving to the transition started in Tunisia, in response to the aspirations of the Tunisian people for dignity, freedom, democracy and prosperity." Ayrault, the statement continues, ''has guaranteed Jebali that France wants to accompany the Tunisian authorities in this process, closing an equal partnership based on the friendship ties that unite the two countries and the two people." The French premier also pledged to try and ''mobilise all international partners of Tunisia, starting with the European Union and the G8, in the context of the partnership of Deauville, to support the transition."
