(ANSAmed) - ATHENS - According to the authoritative Athens weekly Real News, after the May 6 elections and given the profound crisis the local political class is suffering, preparations are underway in Greece for the formation of a new political party (with European policy lines and of a reformist nature) with new figures and very few of the old system. Real News reported that the leading figures of the initiative say that the leader of the new party will necessarily be Lucas Papademos. In an interview with the newspaper, the prime minister said instead that ''after the elections in Greece there will be the need for a government made up of politicians and led by a politician.'' Real News reported that after the May 6 elections Papademos will not be going back to the University of Boston where he taught before becoming prime minister, but would instead be staying in Greece until the autumn. His close collaborators hold that the new government will not last long.

In the latter case, Lucas Papademos may prove useful to the country. (ANSAmed).
