Syria: violent clashes in central Damascus

(ANSAmed) - ROME, DECEMBER 7 - Violent clashes have broken out between the Army and defectors in central Damascus, along Baghdad Street (not far from the Syrian capital's largest hotels). Reports were from anti-regime activists involved in the Local Coordinating Committees. State-run news agency SANA has said that one was killed and 29 injured after a car bomb exploded in Mezze 86, an area of Damascus with mostly Alawite inhabitants.

The activists instead claim that 5 were killed.(ANSAmed).
