Spain: Real estate sales up 21.9% in Q1

Transactions still in decline on the year

25 May, 17:51

(ANSAmed) - MADRID, MAY 25 - Real estate sales in Spain have risen 21.9% in the first quarter compared to its previous one with 92,211 transactions, according to the figures reported today by the property registration organisation. Figures show a "relative recovery" of transactions compared with the decline experienced in the last few quarters.

However, these sources say the positive results are still affected by decreases in sales prices for bank assets and the maintaining of reduced VAT on the purchase of new houses. New homes purchases dropped 25.3% in the first quarter to their lowest level since 2005. (ANSAmed).
