(ANSAmed) - DUBAI, NOVEMBER 02 - The delegation from Cortina
d'Ampezzo has obtained good results in the United Arab Emirates
(UAE), in its mission that ended yesterday in Dubai.
''The goal is to enter the local market,'' the president of
sport centre management company 'Gestione impianti sportivi'
(GIS), Nicola De Santis, told ANSA, "particularly now, after the
introduction of direct flights between the UAE and Venice, which
shorten the distance to Cortina."
The mission started in the Emirates, where the delegation of
GIS and the Cortina tourism consortium held meetings with two
football teams, to propose summer camps, and with the management
of Skydubai, the artificial ski slope that was opened in Dubai
in 2006. The delegation does not rule out the possibility of
extending the Cortina brand, not only skiing but also
craftsmanship and speciality foods, to other countries in the
Gulf, starting with Qatar.
''The visit by GIS from Cortina d'Ampezzo was an important
opportunity to promote Italian exports, including its vast
tourist and natural resources,'' said Italian ambassador to the
UAE Giorgio Starace, underlining the potential of the regional
market.
''The space is there,'' the chairman of Cortina Turismo,
Stefano Illing, confirmed. He pointed out that now it is a
question of quantifying this space and developing solutions that
preserve the high-level tourism that is typical of Cortina and
highly appreciated by Emirati citizens. (ANSAmed).
