(ANSAmed) - GORIZIA, JULY 30 - The Carabinieri officer deployed
as security personnel at Italy's embassy in Sanaa who was
kidnapped yesterday is 29-year-old Alessandro Spadotto from San
Vito di Tagliamento near Pordenone, in the northeastern Friuli
Venezia Giulia region. The officer is a member of Gorizia's 13th
Carabinieri regiment.
"He is a serious young man who was given roles of
responsibility" said the mayor of San Vito al Tagliamento
Antonio Di Bisceglie. "We are close to the family and in contact
with authorities in case there is any need of our intervention".
Spadotto is the only son of a retired Carabinieri officer, and is engaged to a local young woman. (ANSAmed).
