(ANSAmed) - TRIESTE, MAY 18 - In meetings held in Rome in the
past days, the coordinating body for international policies of
government and regions asked Friuli Venezia Giulia to organise
an international workshop on a strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian
macro region.
The workshop will be held on June 12 and 13 in Trieste,
coinciding with the plenary meeting of foreign ministers of CEI
(Central European Initiative) countries.
''This event,'' said regional councillor for international
relations Elio De Anna, ''shows the interest and appreciation
of the European Commission and the foreign ministry for the work
that is done and the commitment of our Region to international
questions and the role our Region plays on the European stage."
The workshop is an initiative of the European Commission, in
collaboration with the foreign ministry. It will focus on
maritime policies as part of the future strategy for the
Adriatic-Ionian macro region. Three sessions will be held,
dedicated to research and innovation, maritime transport and
security and the protection of the marine environment.
