(ANSAmed) - SARAJEVO, MARCH 28 - A direct commercial flight
operated by BH Airlines will connect Mostar and Pescara from
next week, the director of Mostar airport, Marin Raspudic, has
announced. The news was reported by the press agency FENA
following a meeting at the city authorities' offices with an
Italian delegation led by the director general for regional and
unitary national policy, Vincenzo Donato. Mostar, the biggest
city in the Herzegovina area, is only 20 kilometres from
Medjugorje, and the new connection is therefore aimed at
allowing thousands of Italian worshippers and pilgrims easier
access to the Bosnian town famous for the apparitions of the
Virgin Mary.
The connection, Donato said, is reward for the three-year
collaboration between the Abruzzo region and the city of Mostar.
The collaboration, according to the mayor of the city, Ljubo
Beslic, will be extended, with a number of projects discussed
with the Italian delegation, relating to economic development,
links with the nearby Croatian port of Ploce and development
projects for Mostar as part of the Adriatic Ionian macro-region.
The Mostar-Pescara route will be the only direct flight between
Bosnia and Italy. (ANSAmed).
