request to the EU this weekend, according to the news agency
Reuters, which quotes European sources. A videoconference
between Finance Ministers of the Eurogroup is also expected
tomorrow.
The request for aid, according to information gathered by Reuters from Madrid and Berlin, will be made after the videoconference between Eurogroup Finance Ministers, during which the details of the operation will be discussed. Spain's need to resort to EU aid is linked to a crisis in the banking sector and the need to recapitalise a number of banks, including Bankia, with total estimated requirements between 50 and 100 billion euros.(ANSAmed).
