07 May, 17:53

(ANSAmed) - LJUBLJANA, MAY 7 - ''The humanitarian problem in Syria is an international issue and all of us, together with the United Nations Security Council, the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), must resolve it immediately''. So said Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was speaking today from the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, where he is currently on an official visit.

''We have told the Syrians that we intend to take the issue forward in the international arena,'' Erdogan continued. ''At the moment, there are 23,000 Syrians in Turkey and my government is doing everything it can to provide them all with accommodation, but clearly they are suffering from not being in their real homes, as the current set-up cannot be the same,'' he remarked. ''Turkey is on the side of the Syrian people and a regime that opts for a showdown with its own population cannot survive for long''. (ANSAmed).
