Napolitano has congratulated Tomislav Nikolic on his victory in
yesterday's presidential election in Serbia, expressing the hope
that the country will continue with integration into Europe and
with its regional cooperation.
In a message to the president elect, President Napolitano
recalled how Italy and Serbia are bound by a long history of
friendly relations and by close bilateral collaboration in
industry. The concession of candidate nation status had
announced a European future for Serbia - Belgrade press agencies
