Kosovo: Serbia elections, more soldiers arrive for Kfor

27 April, 13:32

(ANSAmed) - PRISTINA/BELGRADE, APRIL 27 - Another 70 German soldiers have arrived in Kosovo in the last few hours, and will strengthen the contingent of KFOR troops (the NATO force in Kosovo), after new ethnic tensions between Serbs and Albanians emerged ahead of elections in Serbia on May 6. An initial group of 250 soldiers from the Bundeswehr arrived in Pristina a few days ago.

In an attempt to guarantee security and tackle potential incidents and emergencies, especially in the majority Serb northern part of Kosovo, NATO has decided to boost KFOR with the addition of 700 soldiers, 550 German and 150 Austrian. The operation will be completed by the beginning of May.(ANSAmed)
