(ANSAmed) - STRASBURG, MAY 25 - The General Secretary of the
Council of Europe, Thorbjorn Jagland, will be in Amman, Ramallah
and Jerusalem from May 27 to 30 for a series of bilateral
meetings with Jordanian, Palestinian and Israeli authorities.
The meetings will aim to promote relations between the
pan-European organisation and Middle Eastern countries.
On May 27 in Amman, Mr Jagland will meet King Abdullah II of
Jordan, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, Senate Speaker Taher Al
Masri and the Speaker of the Lower House, Abed Kareem Doghmei.
In the Jordanian capital, the General Secretary will also meet
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbass before heading to Ramallah,
where he will hold talks with Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
From May 29 to 30, Mr Jagland will be in Jerusalem for talks
with President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu
and Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman.
Mr Jagland will end his mission with a visit to Yad Vashem,
Israel's memorial to the victims of the Holocaust.(ANSAmed).
