Greece: Golden Dawn MPs march into Parliament

Remain seated for oath ceremony with Bishop, like Muslim MPs

17 May, 20:21

(ANSAmed) - ATHENS, MAY 17 - There was an unusual entry into parliament for the 21 MPs elected to represent the pro-Nazi Chrysi Avghi' (Golden Dawn)party, with a military-style march behind squad-leader Nikos Michaloliakos. This is the first appearance in Parliament of representatives of the party, and they marched to the four rows of seats on the far right of the chamber, remaining seated during the swearing-in ceremony presided over by the Archbishop of Athens and of all Greece, Ieronimos. The three MPs of Muslim faith also remained seated, while nearly all of the Communist Party (KKE) MPs absented themselves from the hall to avoid the ceremony. (ANSAmed).
