Greece: Venizelos dissolves all Pasok party organs

As part of announced restructuring of party

11 May, 17:05

(ANSAmed) - ATHENS, MAY 11 - Evangelos Venizelos, the leader of the Greek Socialist party Pasok, has today announced the dissolution of all party organs and has demanded the resignation of members of the political office of the party, as part of a pre-announced restructuring of the party, which was founded by Andreas Papandreou after the fall of the Regime of the Colonels in 1974.

After receiving the resignations he had requested, Venizelos said that he was intending to carry out "not a restructuring or the reconstitution of the party, but rather its rebirth". The Socialist leader added that his successor as next party leader would not be above the age of 30 and that "all ministers suffering from a need to hold onto office must go home". (ANSAmed).
