(ANSAmed) - BRUSSELS, MAY 23 - The Italian Prime Minister,
Mario Monti, said that the forthcoming EU summit in Brussels is
''a meeting in which you should not expect decisions, but an
important one'', in which Eurobonds and public investment ''will
be among the strong ideas mentioned''. Monti was speaking upon
his arrival in Brussels. ''Growth is a priority, not least to
respond in a durable manner to budget discipline'', Monti added,
pointing out that today's meeting is ''more important than
others, but no decisions will be taken, only ideas put on the
table''.
From his part, French President, Francois Hollande, said that ''efforts are needed straightaway for growth''. Without it, Hollande said, ''we will not reach our deficit reduction targets'' and ''we will continue to have to face doubts from the markets''. Meanwhile, Greece's Finance Minister has ''categorically'' denied reports that the Eurogroup taskforce reached a deal last Monday on preparations for national plans to assess the consequences of Greece's exit from the euro. The reports are ''false'', the statement circulated in Brussels claims. (ANSAmed).
