results released by the French Interior Ministry, Francois
Hollande is in the lead with 28.63%, Nicolas Sarkozy is in
second place with 27.18%, and Marine Le Pen is in third with
17.9% after the first round of the presidential elections held
yesterday.

was the far left candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon with 11.11%,
followed by the centrist Francois Bayrou with 9.13%. Further
down are the Greens party candidate Eva Joly with 2.31%, the

Ouvriere one Nathalie Artaud with 0.56% and the independent
