Crisis: Dubai growing again thanks to trade and tourism

30 May, 16:19

(ANSAmed) - DUBAI, MAY 30 - ''Dubai has bounced back'', at least according to the data released by Dubai's statistics department that were reported today by daily Gulf News. These data show a sharp increase in trade and tourism, but also continuing difficulties in the property sector. In 2011, the volume of foreign trade business increased by 22%, mainly due to growing trade with the Asian markets. The airports recorded an 8% increase in tourists last year. This year even promises better: the growth rate over the January-April period, compared with the same period the year before, is 14%. Real economic growth reached 3.4% in 2011, in line with the prediction made by the International Monetary Fund, which had estimated Dubai's GDP growth at 3.3%. (ANSAmed).
