Tourism: Gulf's hotel chain Rotana to invest in Turkey

(ANSAmed) - ISTANBUL, MAY 7 - One of the luxurious hotel chains of the Middle East and the Gulf region has decided to invest in Turkey, as Anatolia news agency reports. Rotana Hotels' CEO Selim El Zyr said on Monday Rotana picked the Turkish southern town of Iskenderun to construct a hotel. ''We have decided to invest in Iskenderun with our Rhassos Rotana brand,'' Zyr also said. The 300-bed luxurious hotel is expected to open its doors in 2014. Rotana Hotel Management Corporation was founded in 1992 by Nasser Al Nowais and Selim El Zyr, who were joined three years later by Nael Hashweh and Imad Elias. Operating as Rotana, it opened its first property, the Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi in 1993 and is today one of the leading hotel management companies within the Middle East and Africa. Rotana operates 70 hotels by 2012, and aims to make 750 million USD of investments by the end of this year. (ANSAmed).
