(ANSAmed) - NICOSIA, MAY 7 - The number of unemployed in the
Republic of Cyprus reached 35,398 persons in April, compared to
34,270 in March, according to the latest statistics from the
Cyprus Statistical Service (CYSTAT). Compared to April 2011,
there was an increase of 31.5% in the number of unemployed, a
trend seen particularly in construction, manufacturing, public
administration, accomodation and food services. According to
similar statistics from Eurostat, unemployment in Cyprus is
now at 10%. (ANSAmed).
