Croatia: Play from Belgrade Theatre to open Rijeka festival

(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, MAY 3 - The legendary play of the Belgrade Atelje 212 entitled 'Otac na sluzbenom putu' ('When Father Was Away on Business') openS the International Festival of mall stage Theatre in Rijeka, which starts today and will end on May 9.

The 19th festival will feature eight plays from Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Poland and Lithuania, connected by the theme of families under the pressure of social, political and social imperatives.

Through the portrayal of one family's fate, the play performed by Atelje 212 is based on the script by Abdulah Sidran and is directed by Oliver Frljic. It shows the political and moral breakdown of a society and a creation of a totalitarian state in which having a different opinion is dangerous.
