Bosnia: UN, Ban Ki-moon in Srebrenica

First UN head to pay homage to genocide victims

(ANSAmed) - SARAJEVO, JULY 26 - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who is visiting Bosnia-Herzegovina, travelled to Srebrenica today to pay homage to the 80,000 Muslim victims of the July 1995 massacre by General Ratko Mladic's Serb-Bosnian forces.

Ban Ki-moon was the first UN secretary general to visit the memorial cemetery in Potocari, close to Srebrenica.

The secretary general was accompanied by Bakir Izetbegovic, the Muslim meber and current chairman of Bosnia's tripartite presidency. (ANSAmed)
