(ANSAmed) - MADRID, MAY 22 - The state of implementation of
projects for the socio-economic development of the Mediterranean
and the strengthening of the partnership between the two sides
of the sea were at the centre of a meeting which took place
between the Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean
(UFM), Fathallah Sijilmassi, with the Deputy Secretary of State
of the British Foreign Ministry, Alistair Burt, responsible for
the Middle East and North Africa.
A statement issued by the UFM itself reported the news. Among
the topics discussed were the role of the UFM in assisting
Mediterranean partners who are dealing with the changes and
challenges of development and security in the area. Burt
expressed Britain's support to the Union for the Mediterranean
through the cooperation with its members and aimed towards a
multilateral action in order to obtain the objectives sought.
