24 April, 18:15

(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, APRIL 24 - The trial against Ratko Mladic will begin on May 16 and not on the 14 th as had initially been expected. The ex military chief of the Bosnian Serbs arrested last May in Serbia after hiding for 16 years has been accused of genocide and of crimes against humanity.

The news was reported by the media in Belgrade, referring to an announcement made by the International Criminal Court in the Hague (ICC). Mladic, whose health is precarious, is thought to be the main person responsible for the siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian war of 1992-1995 and of the massacre of eight thousand Muslims in Srebrenica in July 1995.
