25 May, 21:04

(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, MAY 25 - With the meeting in Carthage between Tunisian president Moncef Marzouki and Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) Secretary General Habib Ben Yahia, the organizational phase of the next AMU summit set to take place in October has got underway.

The summit was strongly desired and supported by President Marzouki, who - due to the need to restore stimulus to the Arab Maghreb project - had spoken on the matter with his counterparts from other countries in the region when he met with them over the past months.

As reported by a statement issued by the president, Yahia stressed that the recent developments in the politica situation of the country have made the restructuring process for AMU institutions to enable them to meet the people's demands no longer able to be put off. (ANSamed)
